I
first got into shelties in 1998, when
a close friend talked me into looking at a 9
month old Tri boy, a litter mate to her boy. Of
course I brought Cooper home, who is now
boss dog and my constant shadow.
Well
I was hooked, shelties are like potato chips
you can’t have just one! In 1999
I got a sweet 8 week old Sable bitch, Aali, and the
following year I started looking for a Blue Merle.
In 2001, I not only found a beautiful bitch,
Giselle, but I met my mentor and good friend
Breeya Barbree of Shadymist
Kennels in Virginia. Breeya
has allowed me the privilege of co-owning Am/Can
Ch Sushines Highlander who also lives with
me. Lander is the foundation for my kennel.
When
it was time for a kennel name, I decided on
CANIDAE – which
means “of the dog family” a perfect
name to describe my home. In
addition to all the shelties Canidae is also
home to Snoopy, a Beagle, Mimi a Bichon, (my
daughter's dog),and Happy the
Cockatiel.
I
am located on just over an acre of land in the
outskirts of Gilbertsville, PA about 50 miles
NW of Philadelphia. I
only have one or two litters a year, therefore,
I am able to strive for healthy, well adjusted shelties
that signify the best qualities of the breed. My
dogs are either clear by parentage or tested for
all known sheltie health problems.
